Save the Date!The 8th Grade Dance will be held on Friday May 18, 2018 from 6-8 pm. Invitations will be passed out to eligible students the day of the dance in their Homeroom. The dance is for 8th grade students only and there are no limousines! There is no cost to the dance and a full day’s attendance is expected. Students must maintain behavior expectations to attend this fun evening. This is a school event and students are expected to dress appropriately. We hope to see you there!

Dear South-Western City School District Parents/Caregivers:

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is partnering with the South-Western City School District to host parent information sessions to provide information on mental health symptoms and suicide prevention. Information regarding the Signs of Suicide (S0S) Prevention Program will be shared with parents.

If you want to learn more about:

  • What the differences are between normal teenage ups and downs and a mental health concern; 
  • The warning signs for depression and suicide; 
  • The risk factors that can affect teens; and 
  • What steps to take if you have a concern about your child’s emotional needs

Then, please join Nationwide Children’s Hospital for an evening of education and discussion on the topics listed above and more:

SOS is a school-based suicide prevention program with the goal of preventing and reducing suicide behavior by expanding the safety net for students experiencing psychological and emotional distress. SOS is a national suicide prevention program that parents and students have found to be a very positive experience in reducing the stigma of depression and letting students and adults know that there are steps that can be taken to help students in need of support.

All participating parents will be entered into a drawing for a $20 Kroger gift card.
